As Life slowly returns to normal we are receiving changes from the diocese,
and will try to implement them as they come along.
With the news of the Governor opening up Churches for public mass, the Bishop has permitted public masses to begin
on the weekend of June 6th with 25% capacity. For our church we can allow 139 people to attend at a Mass.
We will start up our usual weekend Mass schedule times (Saturday 4:30pm, Sunday at 7:45, 9:30, and 11:30am)
This may seem like a step toward getting back to normal...but if you choose to come to Mass, it will not be the same as it was.
There are many new regulations and changes that have to be made in order to maintain social distancing and safety.
WARNING ABOUT RISK ASSUMED BY PARISHIONERS:
While our parish staff will attempt to take appropriate precautions consistent
with the advice of public health authorities, parishioners and guests should understand
that they assume the risk of contracting COVID-19 anytime they enter a public space
since such precautions do not eliminate the risk of infection. (Diocese of Peoria)
As we begin to open, we will need Younger volunteers as ushers/greeters, and Eucharistic ministers
to step forward to help with Masses on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings.
(If you are in the vulnerable category of over 65 years or poor health issues you can not serve in these positions)
Please call the parish office to find out how to volunteer (309-762-4634 ext 208)
We will also continue to distribute communion shortly after the live-streamed masses.
Times: Saturday Mass at 4:30pm
Communion at 5:30pm
Sunday mass at 9:30am
Communion at 10:30am
This is how it will happen:
Park your car and walk to the patio area church doors. You will be directed when you can enter.
Walk inside to the Gathering area where there will be 3-4 communion stations.
(PLEASE CONTINUE TO WEAR A MASK WHEN YOU APPROACH THE COMMUNION MINISTER)
Communion will only be distributed to your hand.
No speaking is required for communion, say Amen silently.
After you receive the host in your hand, you may turn away from the minister and consume the host.
You will then walk directly out of the church from the East door.
We ask that you pray as you enter and pray after you receive your communion on your way back to your car.
EVERYONE MUST WEAR A MASK.
